The clock is ticking for Arkansans to pay their property taxes.

Friday is the deadline for property to pay their 2020 property taxes or face a 10 percent penalty, with interest compiling on owners delinquent real estate taxes.

In Baxter County, property taxes may be paid in person at the Collector’s Office, through the mail with a check, or with a credit card either over the phone or online.

The Baxter County Collector’s Office mailed out more than 31,000 statements in late February and as of Friday was still awaiting about 9,000 tax payments, Baxter County Tax Collector Teresa Smith said.

“October is always busy for us. The closer you get to Oct. 15, the more people you have walk in wanting to pay their taxes,” she said. “We want to encourage as many people as we can to pay early and hopefully avoid long waiting lines.”
